Chapter One
Barley & Font Gentlemen's Book Club began in December of 2022, when a handful of men in Kokomo, Indiana — not all friends at first, deliberately so — united by one thing: a desire to read more books and gather around a table with beer and bourbon to discuss them. Founded by Santos Salinas and Ryan Minick.
We are a men's book club with simple rules — the books we read must feature a male protagonist. No self-help. Just fiction and narrative nonfiction worth arguing about during the first week of each month. Oh yeah, no talking about work! You can do that with your wife.
When we meet, we proudly wear our reading jackets — think smoking jackets — open each meeting with wins and challenges from the previous month, then we dive into the book. We eat, we drink, we laugh and debate. When it ends, we rate the book and announce next month's pick.
